A former lecturer at the Somali National University and a well-known poet, Nageye Ali Khalif, reappeared on Wednesday night after being missing for three months. He made his first appearance on Alfurqaan media, which is affiliated with the al-Shabaab group.
During a one-hour interview, Khalif revealed that he had officially joined the al-Shabaab group, expressing his longstanding satisfaction with their ideology.
He explained that his belief in al-Shabab’s ideology dates back to 2017 when he relocated from Somaliland to Mogadishu. Before joining the group, he was impressed by their operations.
Meanwhile, Somali security agencies initiated an investigation into Khalif’s whereabouts back in October. However, the Somali National University, where Khalif was a lecturer, declined to comment on his situation.
